Developed by the Geotechnical Committee of
Swedish State Railroad, consists of a sounding rod
provided with a cross handle, screw point and
weights. The sounding rod is at first forced into
soil and with successive static loads of
5,15,25,50,75 and 100kg on the rod, penetration
depth of the rod is recorded at each loading
stage, and then the rod with the final static load,
the rod is rotated observing the penetration depth
by the specified method.
